ONroute
One of Ingenuity’s core strengths is seeking to understand a client’s vision and needs, then coming up with the most suitable plan for the course of construction to account for the challenges of a project. ONroute operates a series of convenience plazas or rest stops along Highways 400 and 401 in Ontario. Their aim is to elevate one’s travel experience through offering fresh, exciting food and beverage options as well as gas and other amenities. ONroute’s CEO, Melanie Teed-Murch, was looking for an office space for her growing team that would facilitate creativity, collaboration, productivity, and innovation.
Located in Mississauga and navigating the construction during the pandemic did not deter our team from keeping the project on track in terms of budget and schedule. We came up with solutions that would accommodate forty ONroute staff into 4,743 ft2 of space while maintaining comfort and ensuring it’ll be conducive to both collaboration and independent work.
Working closely with our partners at Baudit Interior Design, they proposed ideas of using materials that would make the environment a less traditional office feel, implementing soundproofing and noise isolation as needed to minimize distractions for the ONroute team. The end result was a space that allowed significant natural light through large windows, suitable furniture that ensured the group wouldn’t feel crowded, and built-in planters that served as dividers between workstations.
The Ingenuity team also coordinated with the ONroute IT team to install a comprehensive access control system that integrated the intrusion alarm, intercom system, and CCTV system. Overall, this was a memorable project that required us to think outside of the box and underscored the importance of clear, consistent communication with all the key stakeholders involved in the project.
